About Jane A. Baran

Dr. Baran’s research focuses on the processing of auditory information within the central nervous system. She studies the performance of both normal individuals and patients with confirmed lesions and/or compromise of the central auditory nervous system (CANS) in an effort to determine the key structures and processes involved in “normal” auditory processing and how these processes are affected in patients with CANS compromise. Her research activities additionally focus on the development of clinical assessment tools to support the accurate identification and diagnosis of central auditory processing disorders and she also studies the efficacy of intervention protocols for the remediation and/or management of central auditory processing disorders in both children and adults.
