Abstract
In 2011, Time Magazine qualified the sharing economy as one of the ten ideas that will change the world. It would entail moving from an ‘ownership society’ to a society in which people share and collaborate. Over the last five years, this development has enjoyed a real boom. This brief contribution, written as an editorial, discusses how this development is relevant for the law, and in particular goes into the European Commission's Communication on a ‘European agenda for the collaborative economy’ (2016).
