About James T. Shaw

James T. Shaw joined the faculty of Criss Library as Social Sciences Librarian in 1992, and he has been Government Documents Librarian since 1996. In July 2015 he added Collections Coordinator to his duties. Prior to UNO, he worked at the libraries of California State University, Fullerton (1989-1992) and the University of Northern Iowa (1985-1989).

Mr. Shaw served as President of the UNO Faculty Senate in 2006-2007. He has served on a number of UNO committees, and he has been President, 1st Vice President, and member of the Bargaining Team for the UNO Chapter of the American Association of University Professors. His participation in the Nebraska Library Association includes holding several offices, and his community service includes 12 years as a Trustee for Sanitary and Improvement District 386 in Douglas County.

In 2015, the Director of the U.S Government Publishing Office appointed Mr. Shaw to the Depository Library Council. During his three year term he served as Acting Chair in Fall 2017 and Chair in Spring 2018.

Mr. Shaw received his M.S.L.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, his M.A. from the University of Northern Iowa, his B.A. from Sonoma State University, and his A.A. from Yuba College.
