About James Strickland

James Strickland is a PhD candidate and sessional academic based in Perth, Western Australia. He graduated with First Class Honours in psychology in 2014, and is currently undertaking doctoral studies at Edith Cowan University.
Current research interests include emotion and emotional deficits, such as alexithymia; intimate partner violence and general violent offending; restorative justice practices; and apology and forgiveness.
His PhD research aims to explore the differences between the acceptance of an apology and true forgiveness, and to develop methodologies to distinguish between the two. This research will expand current theory, and should have implications for victim-offender mediation processes.
