Abstract
The Rehabilitation Counseling Program at the
University of Massachusetts Boston, the #1-ranked
rehabilitation counseling program in New England
by U.S. News and World Report, has a long history
of providing innovative graduate training to a
diverse range of rehabilitation professionals, both
regionally and nationally. UMass Boston is a minority-
serving institution, with federal designation
as an Asian American and Native American
Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI).
It is Boston’s only public research university,
and located in the economic and cultural hub of
New England.
UMass Boston, one of the five campuses of the
University of Massachusetts system, was established
in 1964 to make public higher education available to
the people of the greater Boston metropolitan area.
The University has remained committed over the
years to serving its urban mission and community
by making high-quality public university education
truly accessible, and by being responsive to the specific
needs of that community. The University currently
serves over 17,000 undergraduates and graduate
students.
