Summary & Purpose

The Dry Creek Experimental Watershed (DCEW) in Southwest Idaho provides long-term environmental time series data to support ongoing hydrometerologic, ecosystem and climate change research and publication. Numerous theses, peer-reviewed publications and modeling efforts utilize these datasets. The dataset described here contains long-term, continuous soil data (moisture, temperature) from Lower Deer Point Weather Station in the Dry Creek Experimental Watershed (DCEW) in Southwest Idaho. Additional data will be appended to this dataset on an annual basis.

Data Attributes
Site LDP, Lower Deer Point weather station soil measurement site. This dataset provides continuous hourly soil moisture and soil temperature data for one multi-pit soil measurement site in Dry Creek Experimental Watershed (DCEW), 2007 - present. Data gaps, including prior to data initiation, are represented in this published dataset using -6999 as hourly values. This data should be considered a raw data product, with only obvious noise values (e.g. negative or zero) replaced with -6999. This dataset will be added to annually. Primary sensors used at this site are Campbell Scientific cs615 and thermocouples. Further information on this data, sites, methods and publications may be found at https://earth.boisestate.edu/drycreek/data/. Pit locations: Lower Deer Point weather station hosts shallow soil pits at 5 meters separation, east, center and west, centered at 43.7389 -116.12306, 570694 4843045, elevation 1850.
