Midterm Assessments for Online/Distance Education Courses37th Annual POD Conference (2012)
AbstractMidterm assessments (MTAs) have benefited faculty in place-based (PB) classrooms. As online course modalities become more common, faculty developers need to consider how an effective MTA operates in the online environment. Participants will review PB frameworks currently used for MTAs, then consider types of online strategies available for MTAs on their campuses. At Boise State University, it was clear that a direct transfer of the PB format would not meet our needs. In this interactive session, we will share our current process for online MTAs and engage participants in considering solutions to the challenges involved in providing support to faculty teaching online courses at their home institution.
