Abstract

Researchers across the disciplines have demonstrated that immersive media can increase empathy, which is a prerequisite to social justice activism. This chapter draws from our experiences as teachers, scholars, and creators of immersive media to demonstrate how we can use this "empathy machine" to further the goals of media literacy educators and social justice activists.
