Professor
Professor James Terry has a PhD in Physical Geography (1992) from the University of Wales at Swansea in the UK. He currently lectures on environmental hazards and earth systems. As a field-based geoscientist, he has three decades of research experience in climatology, hydrology and geomorphology across Asia, Mediterranean, Middle East and Pacific regions. He has published widely on climatic hazards, hydrological processes, coastal processes, sea levels, water resources and environmental change.
Prof. Terry has held previous academic positions at the University of Exeter (UK), The University of the South Pacific (Fiji) where he was Head of the School of Geography, Kagoshima University (Japan) and the National University of Singapore. For six years he was Chair of the Steering Group on Natural Hazards and Disaster Risk for the International Council for Science (ICSU) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. Scientific affiliations include the Asia Oceania Geosciences Society (AOGS) and the European Geosciences Union (EGU).
