About James Moles, MD

Dr. Moles earned his medical degree from University of Virginia Health Sciences Center. He continued his education with a four-year residency in internal medicine and psychiatry, also with University of Virginia Health Sciences Center. During his residency, he served as Chief Resident for the Department of Psychiatric Medicine.

Dr. Moles is dual board-certified by, and a diplomat of, the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has been practicing psychiatry for more than 30 years. Prior to joining LewisGale Physicians Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, Dr. Moles has served as staff psychiatrist for Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem, VA, Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatric Medicine at University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, VA, and Assistant Professor of Psychiatric Medicine at Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA. In his spare time, Dr. Moles enjoys fishing, biking, and kayaking.
