About James Lavelle

James is a Ph.D. student in History focusing on Early Modern France with a particular research interest in the advent of republicanism and its relationship with political culture and education policy during the French Revolution. Aside from his research, James is also interested in broader developments in French history, Reformation history, Enlightenment history, Latin American and French Caribbean history, and the history of education from the sixteenth century to the present day. 

James received his M.A. in History from Binghamton University, State University of New York, in 2020, and his B.A. in History and Adolescent Education from Marist College in 2018. He also studied British Politics and Parliamentary Proceedings at the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2017 as part of the Hansard Society Scholars Programme.
