About James Holaska

James Holaska, PhD, joins CMSRU from University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, where he was an associate professor of pharmaceutical sciences since 2013. Prior to that he was an assistant professor for seven years at the University of Chicago. Dr. Holaska earned his PhD from the University of Virginia and his undergraduate from St. Joseph's University.
 
Dr. Holaska's research focuses on understanding how DNA within the nucleus is reorganized to control gene expression during muscle stem cell differentiation and skeletal muscle regeneration. His research also seeks to understand how nuclear structure is altered during metastasis to allow cancer cells to enter and exit blood vessels.
 
Dr. Holaska will serve as an M1 facilitator for an ALG group, teaching cell and developmental biology.
