Abstract

Brian de Breffny, author of The Churches and Abbeys of Ireland and editor of The Irish World and Ireland: A Cultural Encyclopedia, has recently brought out the first issue of what appears to be a very promising journal, Irish Arts Review (Vol. 1, No. 1, 1984, $5, Eton Enterprises, Ltd., Belfast), subtitled “An International Quarterly Magazine for Connoisseurs.” In fact, the magazine is basically an Irish version of The Connoisseur or Apollo, and it would have been called Irish Connoisseur except for the possibility of litigation by the editors of The Connoisseur.
