About James DeMaio, MD

Dr. James Demaio is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he attended the University of Notre Dame and graduated with honors (Summa cum Laude). He earned his medical degree at Harvard Medical School (1982-1986) and then completed his residency at the University of Washington (1986-1989). After a four year tour of active duty with The United States Air Force, Dr. Demaio finished an Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Johns Hopkins in Maryland.
He has received several honors for his dedication as a physician including a Meritorious and Distinguished Service Award (VFW), the President’s Award (Tacoma General Hospital) and The Golden Award (Manatee Memorial Hospital). Dr. DeMaio is involved in various societies: Infectious Disease Society of America, Manatee Medical Society and the Florida Medical Society.
