About James Agbodzakey

Dr. James Korku Agbodzakey is a capable, dynamic and goal-oriented individual with several years of combined experience in nonprofit management, sustainable development, administration, collaborative management, public procurement, consulting, teaching and policy research across various locales. James has made some remarkable contributions in helping create value for society through constructive efforts with organizations such as United Nations, International Monetary Fund/Kelly Services, Broward Sheriff’s Office, Save Lower Volta Network, Hillel at Ohio University, Research International, Accra Metropolitan Assembly, FAU Public Procurement Research Center/National Institute of Governmental Purchasing, Broward County’s and Palm Beach County’s HIV Health Services Planning Councils, and College of The Bahamas. James is now committed to complementing existing efforts at NSU-HSBE-Public Administration Program for the greater good. 

ACHIEVEMENTS: 

Successfully analyzed United Nations (UN) 2004 surveys on National Sustainable Development Strategies (NSDS). The analysis aided the development of global map indicating the status of sustainable development of various countries and was critical to deliberations by stakeholders at the 13th Session of the Commission on Sustainable Development. 

Developed a compendium of public procurement literature consisting of 600 journal publications and 150 books for scholars and practitioners in public procurement. The resource still drives global research agenda on public procurement and reform.

Co-founded and managed a nonprofit organization that facilitated creation of viable communities with sustainable suburban economy in the Lower Volta basin and directly impacted over 30 communities consisting of approximately 250,000 human population across the various demographics. 

Won FAU’s 2008 Nationwide President’s Award of National Association of Graduate- Professional Students (NAGPS) for academic and professional excellence in helping create value for society at the local and international levels. 

Provided an invaluable service in the areas of strategic planning, performance management and effectiveness, program evaluation and applied research in public policy issues, specifically, on crime mapping and crime forecasting to Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) which aided crime fighting efforts. 

Succeeded in raising $20,000 for SALVONET in support of health and environmental education and helped empower inhabitants in three counties to collaboratively promote their health and wellbeing, develop and manage their capacities. 

Successfully supervised 13 Senior Theses in two years at the College of The Bahamas on various Public Affairs/Administration topics. 

Successfully conducted research on collaborative governance as it relates to HIV/AIDS care and treatment efforts with resultant book and article publications. 

Presented at local and international conferences on key issues such as leadership, collaborative governance, sustainable development and management, bureaucracy, nonprofit organizations, crime mapping and forecasting, public procurement, globalization, reform management and social movements.

Analyzed data on adoption of Lean Thinking by various Purchasing Departments in North America using Multivariate techniques such as factor analysis and multiple linear regression. There were 1,836 respondents. The analysis revealed Lean Thinking creates value for Purchasing Departments. 

Recently published a piece on the nexus between demographic and performance variables with particular focus on Chicago School System as part of the education reform debate. 

Selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes my commitment to excellence in Higher Education
