About Jagannathan Sarangapani

Dr. Jagannathan Sarangapani is at the Missouri University of Science and Technology, Rolla, MO, USA, where he is a Rutledge-Emerson Distinguished Professor and served as the Interim-Director of the Intelligent Systems Center in 2021 and Site Director for the NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center on Intelligent Maintenance Systems. He also has a courtesy appointment with the Department of Computer Science.

Dr. Sarangapani has co-authored 191 peer-reviewed journal articles, over 296 refereed IEEE conference articles, several book chapters, and co-authored four books and two edited books. He is awarded with 21 patents, one defense publication, with several pending. He has supervised the completion of 32 doctoral students and 31 M.S. students. His research funding is in excess of $ 20 million dollars from NSF, NASA, ONR, ARO, ARL, AFOSR, AFRL, Sandia and from Boeing, Caterpillar, Honeywell and other companies. His current research interests include learning and adaptation, deep neural network learning and control, networked control systems/cyber physical systems, prognostics with heath care applications, and autonomous systems/robotics. 

He was a co-editor for the IET book series on control from 2010 until 2013 and served on many editorial boards including IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics, and has been on organizing committees of several IEEE Conferences. He is currently an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems and others.
