A workshop, Recent Advances and Future Directions on Adaptation and Control, was held in Chicago on June 30, 2015 to celebrate the accomplishments of Frank L. Lewis on the occasion of his 65th birthday. The organizers of the workshop were two of Frank's former Ph.D. students, Kyriakos G. Vamvoudakis, from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and Jagannathan Sarangapani, from the Missouri University of Science and Technology. Frank L. Lewis is a professor of electrical engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, the National Academy of Inventors, the International Federation of Automatic Control, and the U.K. Institute of Measurement and Control and was a member of the New York Academy of Sciences. Frank worked on feedback control, reinforcement learning, intelligent systems, and distributed control systems.
