About JaDee Carathers

JaDee Y. Carathers recently completed a doctoral degree from the Department of Sociology at PSU. Her research focus is reproductive justice—where gender, sexuality, race, class, and health intersect in embodied experience and reproduce patterns of inequality. JaDee's dissertation is a qualitative inquiry into the birthwork of radical doulas who disrupt essentialist notions of pregnancy and parenting as the sole terrain of cisgender women, while delivering full-spectrum birthwork as paid activism. JaDee teaches Gender & Sexualities, US Society, and Introduction to Sociology. You can contact JaDee at jadee@pdx.edu.
