Dr. Jacqueline Smith  is an Associate Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction currently serving in the capacity as Graduate Coordinator. Dr. Smith received her doctorate from the University of Houston specializing in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Administration with a Gifted and Talented emphasis and mid management certificate. Throughout her career, she has been a teacher, campus and district administrator, program evaluator for the state of Texas, and college professor. During her tenure at the Texas Education Agency (TEA), she was part of the first group of program administrators to assess and evaluate Charter Schools for the state. As a district superintendent, she was invited to present at an Oxford Roundtable in Oxford England. This presentation focused on implementing a district wide reading program addressing the needs of the struggling reader. She has p-resented and published several articles related to her research interests domestically and global. Currently, Dr. Smith is planning a study abroad program for graduate students in the College of Education.
