Abstract
South Florida is home to over six million people, it is also home to a unique ecosystem, the Everglades. The relationship between the Everglades and South Florida's residents has been a stressful one. Initially, the people of South Florida perceived the Everglades as a useless, mosquito invested swamp that needed to be drained and made suitable for agriculture and development.
