About Ian McDougall

Ian McDougall studied at Harvard Law School, Osgoode Hall Law School, and Simon Fraser University.  He held full and part-time faculty appointments at the Dalhousie Law School in Halifax Nova Scotia and Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto. He was the director of the joint Osgoode-Schulich JD/MBA Program from 1994-2006 and was the Lecturer on the Law of Corporate Governance and Advanced Corporate Finance from 1986-2004 at the law school.  He has served as a Visiting Professor, Aix au Province School of Law, France and a Visiting Scholar in Residence, Canadian Institute of International Affairs, University of Toronto. His academic status is Senior Scholar and Professor Emeritus, Osgoode Hall Law School, York University.
 
Ian is a member of the Law Society of Ontario. He has provided a wide range of professional commercial and strategic advice and negotiation assistance in support of acquisitions and financing along with extensive professional M&A experience, equipment and material procurement, and commercial joint ventures in North America, Europe and Southeast Asia. He acted as an advisor to federal Minister of Energy, Mines & Resources re: Amoco-Dome acquisition, Petro-Canada privatization, & Air Canada privatization. Clients have included investment dealers, merchant banks and mezzanine financial suppliers, domestic and international aerospace companies and more.
 
Ian has over 30 years’ experience in the aviation industry and a 40 year flying history.  Employment history include chief executive officer and accountable executive positions in three Toronto based commercial aircraft operating companies and currently as group chairman of a consortium of operating, maintenance, leasing and services companies including Partner Jet, UYJ Aviation, Delta-Mike Inc., MxAerospace,  Flight Solutions and Services (FSS) Inc., (including FSS Lease Finance).  He is the former C.E.O. of Learjet Canada.
 
A past member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Business Aviation Association, Ian has served/serves on a variety of OEM product advisory panels including Cessna-Textron, Embraer and other U.S. and Offshore Aerospace and Defense suppliers, and DARPA led research entities.
 
He serves on a variety of corporate boards, a trustee of the Canadian Air & Space Conservancy and a member of the board of the Toronto International Airshow.
 
He is the past recipient of a wide variety of awards and honours that include the Governor General's Conservation Award, Queen's Jubilee Medal, and Appreciation Award, 30th Anniversary Schulich-Osgoode MBA/JD Program.
 
Ian is a multi-rated fixed wing and helicopter pilot. Flying experience includes numerous type evaluations in all weight categories (multi-engine airline transports to unlimited aerobatic piston powered singles) as well as competitive and recreational aerobatics.
 
Member, International Aerobatics Club, American Aerobatics Association, Experimental Aircraft Association (US), Canadian and American Owners & Pilots Association.
