About Holly L. Gardner

Exploring the tension between preservation and development has been the cornerstone of my research over the years. Through collaborative community-based research I have carried out a range of projects that examine the implications of government policy on often marginalized Indigenous groups. I have had the privilege of living in remote communities for substantial periods of time which has given me an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the challenges that arise based on barriers that geographic, technical, and financial in nature. My works represent the iterative process taken to design and advance project with community leadership and interested stakeholders, and my own learning process as I endeavorer to share what has been created in the academic and public forum.
