The most exciting part of any nurse practitioner (NP) program is when the time comes to start clinical experiences. At minimum, 500 hours spent in supervised practice in the clinical setting are required for graduation and the certification examination.
This chapter will first discuss traditional clinical education in a nurse practitioner program (master’s NP program and post-BSN DNP program). Later, clinical education for the NP in a DNP program will be discussed.
