Abstract
The SPM (Self-Phase Modulation) is a non-linear phenomenon that limits the performance of high speed optical systems. The purpose of this paper is to undertake an analytical and numerical study by means of simulations using OPTSIM RSOFT V.5, which seeks to observe the problems this effect causes on a spectral and temporal pulses, which propagates on an optical fiber at different powers in DWDM systems, C - band. Finally, is obtained the equation’s solution for the SPM is obtained, which is implemented in Matlab V.R14, to validate the simulations in OPTSIM RSOFT V.5.
