Abstract

Based on data drawn from COMTRADE, RSCA, an improved RCA index, are computed for Chinese agricultural products during 2001-2005. Analysis by means of statistic description, PDF, scatter diagram and linear regression, Markovian transition matrix and mobility index, and Lorenz curve, suggest that majority of Chinese agricultural products don’t have comparative advantage, and as a whole no much was changed during the observation period. However, there are noteworthy changes underlying the rather stable trade pattern. With the deepening of the opening-up in Chinese agriculture sector, agricultural strategies and policies should be adapted to trade liberalization.
