About Harvey Hoffman

Dr. Hoffman’s background includes both industry and academic experiences.  While in industry, he held positions ranging from research and development engineer, group manager, project manager to general manager.  In the aerospace field he worked on the space shuttle and the Titan rocket.  He participated in the development and production of radar and artillery weapon systems; and analytical instruments, systems and services for radiation detection and radiation monitoring. 
 
Dr. Hoffman earned five degrees including a master’s degree in management, a doctorate in higher educational administration and three degrees in electrical engineering. He has been an accreditation evaluator for the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), the New York State Department of Education and the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).
 
In academe, Dr. Hoffman has taught both graduate and undergraduate courses at the New York Institute of Technology, Bridgeport Engineering Institute (BEI) and Fairfield University.   He served as the Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department at the Bridgeport Engineering Institute and Fairfield University.  While at the Bridgeport Engineering Institute, Dr. Hoffman initiated and led the introduction of a baccalaureate in Information Systems Engineering, which was the forerunner of the present Fairfield University B.S. in Software Engineering.  At BEI, he served as the first department chair for Information Systems Engineering and led a committee that performed the preliminary development of an electrical engineering master’s degree program.
 
His career as an academic administrator includes serving as Dean and later as Vice President for Academic Affairs at TCI in New York City, the Provost at Lehigh Valley College in Pennsylvania, and the Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness at ASA Institute in New York City.
