Abstract

Water hyacinth is a floating perennial aquatic plant native to tropical and sub-tropical South America. It has touted as a water purifier and considered as a solution to green water issues. Water hyacinth is used in perfume and cologne products. It can be used as organic fertilizer. It also absorbs lead, mercury, and carcinogens when used in remediation purposes. As it has an amazing biomass so, it can be used to create fuels. The objective of this research is to prepare water hyacinth derived active carbon embedded with cobalt nanoparticles. The water hyacinth will be converted into active carbon and used as a support for cobalt nanoparticles.
