About Hakki Gurkas

Hakki Gurkas is an Associate Professor of History at Kennesaw State University, Georgia. He received his Ph.D. from Purdue University, Indiana. His research focuses on Nasreddin Hodja tradition and the history of Aksehir Festival in Turkey, secularization, folk Islam, festive culture, and nation-formation in the Middle Eastern and Central Asia.
