Abstract
Technological advances in computer applications are changing the way we conduct city and regional planning,
particularly through new user-friendly interfaces for community participation, such as augmented reality. In
this essay, Gomez and Hajrasouliha discuss the current trends and identify three potential applications of
augmented reality in placemaking as well as their ethical implications.
