Abstract

Considering the time/length scales where collisions govern the evolution of the phenomena, a quantum multiscale model is proposed to reveal the funda mental science underlying ultrafast, non-equilibrium laser-material interactions, whicconsists of the first-principles calculation, revised molecular dynamics simulation, plasma model, and improved two-temperature model, for free electron generation, electron-lattice interaction, and phase change mechanisms. © 2011 OSA.
