About Dr. Grace S. Thomson

Dr. Grace Thomson is an Educational Leader with extensive background in global higher education in Latin America, U.S. and the Middle East (UAE). For the past 25 years, Dr. Thomson has worked in developing the capacity of public, private and non-for profit institutions, leveraging knowledge as competitive advantage.
Dr. Thomson is the Chair of Business Programs at Higher Colleges of Technology, an ACBSP-accredited institution and largest federal higher education entity in the United Arab Emirates. Her academic experience includes a tenured professor position for 15 years at Universidad Catolica de Santiago de Guayaquil, in Ecuador, Founding Director of MBA programs and General Coordinator of Graduate Studies. She also taught at Nevada State College, University of Phoenix, DeVry University, National University and Community College of Southern Nevada. Dr. Thomson is recognized as a strategic leader and caring faculty, who motivate her teams and students toward success. She has spearheaded innovative initiatives between the public and private sector, facilitating experiential learning projects. As a mentor to hundreds of students, she has opened opportunities of scholarships for many of them
Multiple accolades confirm her commitment to higher education: Outstanding International Faculty of the Year in 2007, Heritage Faculty Fellowship awardee in 2007-2009, and Recipient of the iTeach Economic Development Award in 2010. As Faculty Senator at Nevada State College, she led both the Budget and strategic planning committees successfully for 4 years.
Dr. Thomson is a prolific author of strategic management, global leadership, entrepreneurship, business education and economic development articles that reflect both her experiences in the classroom and her dedication to research. Her global perspective on higher education gives her an edge as a leader and strategist.
