About Godson Osuji

I have obtained the best education the word can provide because I hold the PhD degree in Molecular Chemistry from the University of East Anglia, Norwich, England after I completed the University of Ibadan (annex of the University of London), Nigeria BSc degree in Chemistry (1971). My postdoc research fellowship was in Dr. Fred Sanger's (double Nobel Prize recipient in Molecular Biology) laboratory, MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, England. I taught Biochemistry for 9 years in Nigeria first at the University of Nigeria, and second at Nnamdi Azikiwe University; and became a tenured Professor in Biochemistry in 1982, and held every position (Chair of Department, Dean of Graduate School, Interim President of University, chairman of numerous committees etc) in the academia. Most of my former students are leaders (Professors, Deans, University Presidents, Physicians etc) in academia worldwide. I have conducted scientific research as Fulbright Professor, USDA Research Laboratories, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. After I completed the tenure as Fulbright Professor, the USDA would not leave me. I was posted to Prairie View A&M University to pioneer biochemical research activities on crop plants and to help to train students who will be future scientific leaders in agriculture. I have conducted USDA-NIFA funded molecular chemistry research on almost all tropical staple food crops and fruits, medicinal plants (peanut, sweetpotato, soybeans, cassava, Dioscorea yams, maize, chickpeas, black eye beans, water melon, V. esculenta etc), trained dozens of scholars, and published the biochemical results and outcomes in diverse categories of refereed journals, and as USA patents. For all these intellectual exploits and achievements, I have been accorded worldwide respect by the Research Directors of CARC, several Presidents of Prairie View A&M University, The New York Academy of Sciences, America's Outstanding Professionals, and the Nobel Prize Screening Committee.
