About Gina Devito

Lieutenant Gina DeVito-Staub graduated from Hiram College in 1994 and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology. In 1997 she was hired by the Twinsburg Fire Department as a Firefighter Paramedic; shortly after she joined the Summit County Hazardous Materials Team.  In July of 2006 she was promoted and the first female fire officer at the Twinsburg Fire Department obtaining the rank of Lieutenant.   In August of 2011 she completed a Master’s in Business Administration and a second Masters in Leadership from Grand Canyon University. Gina strives to better the fire and emergency services through diligence and dedication.
Lieutenant Gina currently attends the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program and plans to facilitate the growth of educated leaders while increasing the safety of the profession. She will convey an atypical perspective to at the national level apart from the male-dominated majority. 
She has had various opportunities to work in an assortment of specialties within the fire service from fire prevention, pre-hospital care, emergency management, quality assurance, EMS software administrator, special operations, and fire suppression.  Prior to her promotion Lt. Gina played an integral role in developing, administering and evaluating the training program for Twinsburg Fire Department.  While employed by the Fire Prevention Bureau at Willoughby Fire Department she was afforded the opportunity for exposure to the administrative side of the fire service.
Lieutenant Gina’s greatest impact on the fire service has been her teaching, emotional intelligence and communication skills with the staff, residents, and local businesses contributing to her success as a Lieutenant, Assistant Public Information Officer, Instructor for Ohio Fire Chief’s Association and the University Akron.
