Building character: Five enduring themes for a stronger early childhood curriculum.
(2001)
Abstract
Using the NAEYC position statement of Developmentally Appropriate Practices, this book presents practices for integrated curriculum in Preschool through third grade classrooms. It offers ready-made activities centering on five themes<-->self, family, school, community, and work. Each theme is viewed through a multicultural lens, and suggestions are offered for extending each activity beyond the initial lesson. Character values are integrated into a social studies framework. Also included is a children's literature bibliography organized by character trait.
