Abstract

The heat of solution and heat of precipitation of Co(OH)2(pink) were determined calorimetrically. Combination of the calorimetric data with appropriate heats of formation yield ΔH°f = -129.4 kcal. per mole for Co(OH)2(pink). This ΔH°f was combined with ΔG°f = -110.0 kcal. per mole for Co(OH)2(pink) from solubility data to yield S°298 = 22.3 cal. per degree per mole for Co(OH)2(pink).
