About Ganesh Balasubramanian

Research in nanoscale engineering has grown leaps and bounds over the last two decades, and with that questions have emerged about suitably employing the knowledge gained from scientific explorations at the atomic scale to the utilization of humankind. Unlike the age old tradition of trying to improve things top-down, and in turn squandering useful resources, the bottom-up approach assimilates the salient details at the nanoscale and implements them for a cohesive benefit at the macroscopic level. Learning the mechanism from the fundamentals to the bulk can have path-breaking insinuations towards solving several scientific and engineering challenges currently facing us. Currently, we are investigating some of these engineering problems that could impact not only the scientific community but also our society.
