About Gail A. Partin

In her role as Associate Dean for Library and Information Services, Gail A. Partin served as the Director of the Law Library and Professor of Legal Research at Penn State Dickinson Law.  In addition to managing information necessities for the law school, she taught the Strategic Legal Research and first-year legal research courses, lectures on specialized legal research topics, and served as the foreign and international law research specialist for the Law Library. She has authored several publications on legal research and presented at the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), American Society of International Law (ASIL), National Association for Law Placement (NALP), and in a variety of continuing legal education venues.  She is an active member of the American Association of Law Libraries. As contributing member and later Task Force chair, she co-developed the AALL Principles and Standards for Legal Research Competency, the prevailing standard for assessing legal research competency. She is a member of the Bar of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court having earned her J.D. from Dickinson School of Law and a Master's in Library Science from Clarion University.
