About Francisco Soto Mas

I am an Associate Professor of Public Health with the Department of Family & Community Medicine at the University of New Mexico. I have more than 20 years of professional experience in medicine and public health as a practitioner, researcher and academician. Regarding research experience, I have served as principal investigator, co-principal investigator and co-investigator in more than 20 projects funded by federal and state agencies as well as private foundations. My areas of expertise include chronic disease prevention and control, program planning and evaluation, health behavior theory, Latino health issues, bioterrorism, and health communication and health literacy. I have published more than 40 peer-reviewed research and concept papers related to medicine and public health, two books, and several book chapters, and delivered and coauthored more than 80 presentations at national and international scientific and professional meetings. I also serve on scientific review panels for NIH and CDC, as scientific reviewer for professional organizations such as SOPHE and APHA, and as peer reviewer for national and international medical and public health journals.
