About Francesco Sindico

Francesco Sindico is Reader in International Environmental Law at the University of Strathclyde Glasgow, School of Law. He is also Honorary Lecturer in International Law at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy of the University of Dundee, Scotland, UK, and a Visiting Lecturer in Climate Change Law and Policy at the Institute for Environment of Brunel University, London, UK. He currently serves as Associate Editor for the journals Carbon and Climate Law Review and Review of European Community and International Environmental Law. He also collaborates with Perceva Lmtd as climate change and water expert.
Previous posts include Lecturer in International Law at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy of the University of Dundee and Lecturer in Law at the School of Law of the University of Surrey, Guildford, UK, where he also served as Deputy Director of the Environmental Regulatory Research Group.
Francesco Sindico holds a PhD in Law from the Universitat Jaume I in Castellon de la Plana, Spain, in which he looked at the interaction between international climate change law and international trade law. He also has an LLM in International Law and International Relations from the Autonoma University in Madrid, Spain and an LLB in Law from the University of Turin, Italy.
Francesco Sindico's research spans a number of International Law fields, with a particular focus on international environmental law and international trade law. He has published in peer review journals and edited collections in these fields. He has co-edited a book in Spanish on International Environmental Law and guest edited special issues of international law journals on climate change and the global economy, transboundary aquifers and international law and the management of the Guarani Aquifer System.
Francesco Sindico welcomes PhD research applications in Public International Law dealing primarily (but not only) with international climate change law and policy (and its interaction with international trade law) and international water law (with a particular attention for the law of transboundary aquifers).
Francesco Sindico has been involved in a number of externally funded projects, either as principal investigator or as work package leader and has extensive experience in organising international academic conferences.
He is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian (mothertongue) and French.
