About Frank Haulgren

I have spent most of my working life in academic libraries.  First as a staff at the University of Illinois’ undergraduate library in Urbana and then, for 35 years, here at WWU’s Western Libraries.   My career in the Libraries has been wide ranging.  I have worked in circulation, managed course reserves and interlibrary loan, and served as the Libraries assessment and facilities coordinator. I’ve lead a variety of initiatives including the development and implementation of self-serve course reserves; the Libraries’ campus courier service which makes daily deliveries of library materials to academic departments; enhancements to interlibrary loan services such as ILLiad and its integration with Summit Borrowing, the RAPID article delivery service; as well as many other assessment and facilities initiatives.

One of the wonderful things about a career in libraries is the way in which it can intersect with and support one’s personal and creative interests.  These selected works reflect my work for the Libraries, community involvement, and radio pieces produced during the 1990s for the Western’s radio station, KUGS-FM.
