About Foluke Omosun

Foluke Omosun, Ph.D. is Assistant Professor in the School of Communication, Media and The Arts at Sacred Heart University. She holds a Ph.D. in communication and information from Kent State University. She has significant experience as a public relations and media professional working in corporate, agency and higher education sectors. She served as editor of Kent State’s employee newsletter and was a member of the university’s crisis communications team. She also served as a reporter for NPR where she examined the effect of the pandemic on K-12 public education and the criminal justice system in Ohio. More recently, before joining SHU, she was a health promotion project coordinator at UConn and an adjunct professor at Kent State. Her research interest is in messaging strategies, framing and audience effects, and uses and gratifications of online support groups. 


Dr. Omosun has completed a M.A. in public relations and Ph.D. from Kent State University and B.A. in mass communication from Ahmadu Bello University.
