Abstract
In order to perform effective electoral processes in Latin America the model of electoral management entrusted to independent specialized bodies has been privileged. To what extent these organisms generate confidence among parties -represented by their parliamentary elites-towards elections? This article analyzes the electoral management bodies (OE, for its Spanish Acronym) in eleven countries in the region, proposes a typology of the OE based on the nomination and composition of its members, as well as an independence index respect Parliament and explores to what extent they generate the aforementioned confidence within the parliamentary elites towards elections.
