Kinetics of Metallurgical Processes
(1999)
Abstract
Most metallurgy students get intensive instruction in thermodynamics and, due to lack of time, they are merely introduced in a rather superficial way to the kinetics of metallurgical processes. Kinetics is, however, as important as thermodynamics. While thermodynamics predicts the feasibility of a reaction and the energetics of a process, kinetics has direct influence on engineering: productivity and the factors responsible for its increase. Therefore, metallurgical engineering students should have a thorough introduction to this subject at least equal to courses on thermodynamics.
