Colonization of Asia

Abstract
It was Alexander the Great who was the first European to enter Asia, conquer the Persian Empire who dominated the continent. Later on, the Europeans were mainly concerned with obtaining spices from the East. The Industrial Revolution forced the Europeans to acquire more and more raw materials and new markets, often by force. The Arabs, the Seljuk Turks, the Mongolians, and many others occupied parts of Asia till finally countries of the continent got their independence after much blood-shed and many massacres.
