The Nature of Fire

Abstract
Fire remained a mystery for about two thousand years. It was Henry Cavendish (1731-1810) who determined to try to solve this mystery. His research led to the discovery of hydrogen but it was Lavoisier (1743-1794) who determined that fire is the phenomenon of combustion.
