Abstract
Gérard Letendre founded the Department of Mining and Metallurgy at Laval University in Quebec city, Canada in 1938. At that time École de Mine in Boulevard de l`Éntente housed the Department when it moved to the campus in Sainte Foy. He studied at the Royal School of Mines in London.
