April Murphy

Associate Professor, Department of Social Work

Disciplines

  • Social Work

Research Interests

  • My research interests center around child welfare, human trafficking, social work education and ethics. In the area of child welfare, I have conducted a number of studies related to child maltreatment and foster care/adoption, which was born out of my several years of social work practice with children and families. I have also developed a standardized tool for child welfare agencies to utilize to assess barriers to permanency for children in the child welfare system. I am currently working on research related to ethical decision-making for social work students utilizing a national sample as well as exploring effective ways to identify victims of human trafficking.
