Invisible People: Mexicans in Idaho History

Abstract

Twenty-first century Idaho has quickly become one of the nation’s most popular destinations for Mexican immigration. But Mexican immigration to the Snake River basin long predates Idaho statehood. An understanding of that phenomenon demands a review of historical factors starting with the present situation and placing it in historical perspective.
