Student Attitudes in Mathematical Literacy

Abstract
This presentation describes Parkland College’s mathematical literacy model and then looks at the effects the course can have on developmental students’ attitudes about mathematics. Results from audio recordings of students working in groups and student interviews will be shared from a research study conducted in this non-STEM developmental class using a groupbased problem-solving approach.
