About Erin Brooks

Dr. Erin Brooks (Assistant Clinical Professor), a graduate of The University of Missouri-St Louis College of Optometry, completed a fellowship in family practice at the college.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with emphasis on biochemistry and a minor in biology from The University of Missouri-St Louis. Prior to joining the faculty at The University of Missouri-St Louis College of Optometry, Dr. Brooks completed a Master’s Degree in Vision Science investigating prediction of word reading abilities in school-aged children with a high degree of vision-based learning disabilities who were enrolled in the Pupil Project Program. During her fellowship, Dr Brooks’ teaching experiences included low vision laboratory, scenario based discovery, and ocular motility laboratory.

Dr. Brooks has a diversity of interests including binocular vision, children’s vision, ocular disease, and community health. She has given numerous poster presentations at the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Brooks is a member of several optometric organizations including the St Louis Optometric Society and American Optometric Association. She functions as a clinical affairs committee member for the Missouri Optometric Association.  In addition, Dr. Brooks is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a diplomate of the American Board of Optometry.  Dr. Brooks serves as an annual co-coordinator for Continuing Education Monitors at Optometry’s Meeting.

At the College of Optometry at the University of Missouri-St Louis, Dr. Brooks’ teaching responsibilities include ocular motility, neurologic disease of the eye and visual system with Dr. Aaron Franzel, as well as two didactic semesters of anatomy, physiology and disease processes (Part I and Part II).  Dr. Brooks attends as a clinical preceptor at the University Eye Center in pediatric and binocular vision clinic as well as the Eye Health Management Services and primary care clinics.  Dr. Brooks is an active clinical preceptor at Carondelet Family Care Health Center and has served as a preceptor at Affinia Health Center (formerly Grace Hill) in St Louis.
